A Workout Is Only Part of the Plan
An exercise can be a great exercise. A workout can even be a great workout.
But that doesn’t mean it’s appropriate for every athlete.
A training plan needs to account for things like:
Where you are right now
Your current strength and training experience
Appropriate sets, reps, and weight
Exercise selection
Your ability to recover
Your individual strengths and weaknesses
How the training will progress
Where you are developmentally
Two athletes can perform the same exercises and need very different training.
One athlete might need more weight. Another needs better technique. One may recover easily from three hard training days each week, while another may already be balancing practices, games, school, and other training.
That’s why simply copying a workout misses an important question:
Is this the right training for this athlete, right now?
